  • Grace's neighbor and friend who loves and cherishes her family. She has a big heart for people, like Grace. She was given the namesake and  features of my friend who is also a librarian. My friend Brooke LOVES her family.

  • Grace's neighbor and friend who loves flowers especially sunflowers and her grandchild. She is sometimes shy about asking for help but always willing to help others. She was given the namesake of my oldest sister. Same qualities of my sister - caring for others.

  • Grace's friend and classmate. He is the boy with the Spirit of excellency. Everything he touches flourishes. He has a charming personality and his one-dimple smile lights up any room. 

  • She is a five year old girl with a big heart. She finds ways to spread love and kindness towards everyone. She is created in the image of the women in my family.

  • Grace's neighbor and friend who loves reading and watching quiz shows like Jeopardy. She is the namesake of my special aunt. She was given the name of Nellie to honor the memory of my late aunt. I have fond memories of watching Jeopardy with my late aunt.

Hi, I am Negrita, your children’s book author.

A small-town girl from Alabama, I am a believer, wife, sister, and teacher at heart. I am a best-selling, award-winning children’s book author and the first of my family to graduate from college. All accomplishments are shared with my supportive family.

As an author, I have a passion for reaching young people one book at a time to teach them valuable life lessons. My characters are created to share messages of kindness, love, and togetherness. Although, my books teach lessons targeted towards young readers, these are lessons we are never too old to learn.
